Fire alarms services in Bradford and Leeds

Aire Valley Electrical Services can design and install emergency lighting for the safe movement of all occupants within your building (the emergency lighting code of practice for emergency lights in premises BS5266). If there is a power failure in part or all of your building the emergency lighting should come on automatically where power is lost ensuring the safe movement of occupants. The emergency lights need to be bright enough and illuminated for a sufficient length of time and the light sources positioned so that all occupants can be evacuated safely in an emergency.

Routine testing of emergency lighting should be carried out daily, monthly and annually.

Testing monthly – check for signs of damage or disrepair, briefly test to ensure they operate in the event of power failure and any faults logged and corrected.

Testing annually – a full test and inspection and duration test should be carried out to comply with BS 5266 and an emergency lighting certificate should be issued.

Daily and monthly testing can be carried out by a nominated responsible person but the annual test should be carried out by a competent person with necessary skills knowledge and training to carry out emergency lighting maintenance and servicing and should be fully compliant with BS 5266.
